Student Organizations
Leadership is a hallmark of the student experience at UVA. With more than 700 groups across Grounds, students have fun and hone skills that help them develop as citizen leaders, serving the public good now and into the future. These groups play an important role in expressing the UVA brand.
Special rules apply to how student organizations may and may not use the University's name and official UVA marks. These guidelines are designed to help contracted independent organizations (CIOs), special status organizations (SSOs) and fraternal organizations (FOs) use the UVA brand correctly. Please note, CIOs are not permitted to use any official identity marks of the University of Virginia. The "Split-V" mark is not an official mark and may be used by CIOs. A template to create your own "Split-V" is available in these guidelines.
